1st Match
Randy Orton beat The Miz via DQ
This was a nice way to open Smackdown. Orton took most of the offense in the early goings of this match. The Miz gave us the traditional cowardly heel tactics we are accustomed to seeing. The match took a turn after some interference from Alex Riley. From there the match goes back in forth with both men getting in their fair share of offense.
This match was leading up to a classic until the Miz was DQed after interference from Alex riley. Still, the match was over twelve minutes long and it really fired up the crowd. I see a lot of Chris Jericho in the Miz. He performed really well in this match and deserves a lot of credit for his recent work.
We are shown some quick highlights from Cena and his actions at TLC. Following that we go to the back to see Santa full of Christmas spirit. He is on his way to the ring and I'm sure he is full of goodies for all the good boys and girls.
Santa and company start throwing out presents to everyone in the ring. Cole claims he has been a good boy and wants a present. Santa tries sitting in his chair but he breaks it and falls on his rear end.
Sho.. I mean Santa reads us a little Christmas story about the results from TLC and plugs his DVD. This wasn't the worst X-mas skit the WWE has done. Heck, I can admit that I even got a couple of chuckles out of it. The segment ended with Cody Rhodes playing Scrooge and attacking everyone.
We comeback with some advertisements for tomorrows Tribute to the Troops showing, before I go further with the show I just want to say thank you to all the men overseas defending all of us and putting their lives on the line for us.
The show gives us highlights from last night's Raw. It shows Cena's return and all the high jinks that took place with Vickie. While I don't condone all the fat jokes she took. I must say it was some funny stuff. I guess that makes me a bit of a hypocrite.
Beth is being interviewed in the back, and they talk about her nasty bump at the PPV. She starts to talk before being interrupted by Santino. He wants a smooch for old times' sake. Santino puckers up, but Beth kisses Kozlov instead. This leads to a comedic argument between the two.
(One match in 45 minutes, I am not a happy camper)
2cnd Match
Santino beat Chavo Guerrero by pinfall
We got what I expected out of this bout, a short five minute bout that ended with Chavo's shoulders pinned to the Matt.
Here comes the ten times over rated champ Edge. Cole says that he is one of the all time greats because of this. I think I heard Bruno coughing bullsh@t from his grave. Edge starts his promo and I take a no doze to stay awake. Kane thankfully breaks up the snooze fest. He states that Edge's story won't have a happy ending.
Edge insults Kane's ramblings, if you ask me it's a tossup. Edge then makes an open challenge to Kane for the world title. Kane starts to make his way to the ring but changes his mind. Kane tells him that Edge will play his game under his terms and not his.
More highlights of Cena are shown in case you missed it the first three times.
Back from the break we see some highlights of Ezekiel Jackson.
3rd Match
Drew McIntyre beat Kaval by pinfall
Drew wins in one minute squash match. This has been a horrible Smackdown so far. I remember a year ago Smackdown was the show to watch for wrestling. What the heck happened to the wrestling part of the shop?
4th Match
Kofi Kingston and Rey Mysterio beat Jack Swagger and Rey Mysterio
This was an enjoyable tag match. All four worked hard and helped save a lackluster show up until that point. It went back and forth between the teams and it left you wondering who would pick up the win. That is always a plus in any wrestling match. At one point in the match Kofi and Mysterio landed an awesome double splash on the outside.
Guess what? We are treated to yet another highlight of Cena from TLC.
They continue to tease the Kelly Kelly and Drew McIntyre romance.
5th Match
Vickie Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler vs. John Cena
Ziggler looked good again, but the whole match was overshadowed by the constant fat jokes towards Vickie. I won't go into the specifics in case there are any people who may get offended. I will just say that they were really unflattering. Ziggler took most of the offense before Cena came back in his normal fashion.
All in all I was a little disappointed with the show. Smackdown is loaded with talent and the WWE had a great chance to show this. Instead it was filled with goofy segments and one too many short matches for my liking. They show wasn't all bad, but it was filled with too many holes to say it was good.
