This is the testimony of Arthur Apinian, a clinician at the Judge Rotenberg Center, at a MA legislative hearing, in November, 2009, on a proposed bill that would ban the use of aversives in the behavioral treatment of MA children.

  • People who don't live with severely autistic persons with self-injury causing bodily harm have no clue what this is like. For a reality check see you tube video "severely autistic boy beaten by big government" See what happens when 18 years of ineffective conventional therapies leave an autistic person held captive to self injury. NOT saying shock therapy is the only answer. However, it should be ONE option in emergency situations, just like using a De-fib for a heart attack shocks. Duh.
