Closing hymn from 10/24/2010. For the last verse I solo-ed the melody out on the horizontal Martin Luther Trumpet.
Here is the text:
1. Fight the good fight With all thy might;
Christ is thy Strength and Christ thy Right.
Lay hold on life, and it shall be
Thy joy and crown eternally.

2. Run the straight race Thro' God's good grace;
Lift up thine eyes and seek His face.
Life with its way before us lies;
Christ is the Path and Christ the Prize.

3. Cast care aside; Upon thy Guide
Lean, and His mercy will provide;
Lean, and the trusting soul shall prove
Christ is its Life and Christ its Love.

4. Faint not nor fear, His arms are near;
He changeth not, and thou art dear.
Only believe, and thou shalt see
That Christ is All in all to thee.

  • The tune is called MENDON, and its long meter. I like it! The Martin Luther Trumpet is named so in honor of Dr. Charles Ore, who was my teacher.

  • Very good job! I like how you call the trompette en chamade the "martin luther trumpet!" It always gives me a good laugh. :]

  • @8ftbourdon That is what its called... Rodgers "stock" name was "festival Trumpet" so I renamed it "martin luther trumpet" Its named in honor of Charles Ore, who was my teacher. He designed an organ for a church in Omaha with a horizontal "Martin Luther Trumpet"

    This was the first time I used that trumpet for a hymn, people seemed to like it.

    Thanks for your nice words

  • what kind of a church is this?> im guessing christian?

  • Nice play :) What is the tune's name? Rhythmically it's like "Pentecost", but the music is different.

    PS. "Martin Luther Trumpet" is super. Do you have also "Benedict Principal" or something like this? :)

  • This Hymn , was written by John Monsell while he was vicar of Egham in Surrey!

  • @hoover1060 oh ok cool thats what i thought it was haha
