@Vincent50 -- (cont) They NEVER did as many runs in their songs like Mariah, NOR did they have the range like she did.. the closest one that would have range like hers that you've mentioned was Aretha. & I think the song "Hero" (probably her most famous song) as well as some of her other songs will have the longevity just like those of the artists you've mentioned. Her earlier songs will be remembered. JUST like the artists you've mentioned..their later songs, not so much.

The only reason her songs wouldn't be as much sung as other famous female artists is because her songs are so freakin' hard to sing for most people. Anybody can sing Diana Ross's EASY songs or Ms. Cole's songs and even Aretha's. (continued)

No, Aretha just had 2 kids as a teenager , her first husband abused her, lost her mother at 10, all brothers and sisters dead, father shot and lay in coma for 5 years before dying. I am so sick of people not giving her her props for the works she has done with all she has had to overcome. Everybody has a story, and has overcome something, it dosen't make them any less or more than someone else. Aretha is the QUEEN, period.
