Possibly the most beautiful, compact, well-designed console ever. Cute and entirely functional.

Can you play the games on the LCD screen? Like using it as a tv for the PSOne?

lol..... Now I want to play my PSOne!! D:

You talk about later versions of older video game systems being redesigned, Nintendo has just done that with the Wii, at least here in Australia, the new reconfigured Wii has a horizontal orientation only and does not play GameCube games nor does it have GameCube controller ports or memory card slots.

Did the early PS1 systems also have a Parallel I/O connector on the back? I'm pretty sure some of the earlier models did have, I believe the Namco light guns also used one of those connectors on the back as well as the controller socket, I wanted one of these for a few days in early 2001 but didn't get one, eventually I did get a PS2. I hated PlayStation in the 90's because all the kids at school teased me about the N64, but now I wouldn't mind getting one.

@Lachlant1984 Yeah the early PS1's had a parallel port that was taken off the last few models of PS1 and the PSone. I don't think any official peripheral used it. Just some early Game Shark like devices or things to play Backups and Imports. The Namco light gun used the composite video so you plugged the gun into the controller socket and another wire passed around to the composite video you plugged the PS1's composite video cable into it and it into the TV.

@MN12BIRD Yeah I remember once my cousin hired out a game with the Namco gun and I remember the cable having video and audio sockets on it, why did they design it like that? Why would you need to run the video signal through the light gun cables?

@Lachlant1984 My guess is the gun needs the sync signal to line up with the refresh rate on the screen for some reason. Those Namco guns where known to be more accurate than previous style light guns so it must have been why.
