Since the source code of Doom was released by id, there's been plenty of ports. This one is my particular favourite. It's JDoom, running on the Doomsday engine. Features dynamic lights, anti aliasing, texture filtering, fully 3D environments, plus it supports custom 3D models and audio.

Check out doomsdayhq.com for the download and more info. You need to own a copy of the original Doom .wad files to run the games, though.

gah! well it did pretty much the same thing at the time lol.

so many mods can't keep track of em all anymore =x

  • @trippyay i know this is old comment but Zdoom wasn't included with Final Doom, Doom 95 was included with Final Doom :P

  • fake

  • I don't think it would be s fun

  • Guys how come when i run JDoom the Console dosen't appear and then when i read the text it said something about something is wrong with one of the .pyds i am using Beta 5.1. please help anything is good just please help i wanna see jdoom again all Skulltag is fine and ZDoom but not Doomsday Engine please help.

  • This game is still better than a lot of the FPS games that has came out within the years

  • look at the related tab to this vid. there's quite a few. there's also some doom3 total conversions, but those don't feel right, though they're nice eye candy.

  • Has any port actually replaced the sprites with proper 3D models or is that impossible?

  • you completely missed the point of the video. understandable though, seeing as you weren't even born when these games came out. stick to what you know, kiddo.

  • zDoom was the windows port which was included in Final Doom and allows you to play in SVGA as well as use mouse aiming, etc.

i think i know who got it all wrong.
