Do Christians believe the Virgin Mary was born of a virgin? I know some of them believe Mary was for ever a virgin despite having several children and I know of the doctrine of the immaculate conception (of Mary) but was that birth also of a virgin? If so how far back does this parthenogenesis go? Why not go the whole kosher hog and say Jews never fucked?

1] Mary was conceived by "immaculate conception" she was 100% human but did not inherit Original Sin.

2] She is was and remains a virgin

3] She had Jesus without having sex and she also bore James and his other brothers and sisters whose names we didn't need to be told

5] The wages of sin are death. Only sin causes death.

6] Because of 1 and 6 Mary must have been drawn up to heaven without dying.

The immaculate conception (of Mary, being born without original sin) and her assumption into heaven (if she was born without sin she could not die as the wages of sin is death, as she's not around she must have gone to heaven) is all Catholic fabrication and officially true. @MartinJWillett They don't, but the idea that Mary was also born of a virgin is a misconception stemming from the doctrine of Immaculate Conception. The doctrine states that Mary herself was preserved from original sin, that she was born without a sin nature, and that she lived a sinless life. It doesn't say anything about her own birth though.
