  • I don't totally agree, yes the UAW has it's fair share of blame, but the increasing regulation and requirements have made the cost of automobiles grow faster than inflation. Although GM management probably has the loin's share of the blame, they didn't stand up to the UAW, they didn't build new plants & shutter the dinosaurs & since Roger Smith senior management at GM hasn't understood the car business & what Sloane & Knuedson built or basic customer service

  • @fk4515 It wasnt regulations that made cars so expensive and help take jobs away from the people. Thank the UAW for that. It is simple business practice, If there is someone willing to work for cheaper and not complain and strike all the time then of course so long jobs... either way it sucks for our great country and our people...

  • Imagine if they hadn't passed a bunch of building and industrial codes to make the building obsolete, imagine if they hadn't passed so many car regulations that people can't afford new cars

  • IMAGINE IF USA SPENT AS MUCH MONEY ON HISTORIC PRESERVATION AS THEY DO ON WARS: one rocking apartment complex or hotel

  • i've seen videos of factories like this with cars still on the tracks in mid assembly. Apparently when they shut down they just locked the doors and never looked back.

  • I saw a skeleton in this place slumped down in the corner with a bottle of whiskey and needle by his side.

  • The 5th floor you are walking through is the paint department. The track was used for the assembly line as wheeled framed carts hauled the car bodies/parts in through the paint booths and ovens to dry. Tools were not hauled from room to room here, the cars were.

  • did you see any abandoned cars?
