ya i had that happen to me i didnt know it was en electric fence so i leaned against it and grabed it my muscles froze and i fell over thats the only way i could get off it

slapping it is safer ... whatever safer means in this situation. i just mean that electricity might just make you muscles squeeze it with a terrible grip, so... slap it next time
