  • Fabulous recording from one of the most under-rated singers and actresses.

  • @63LAURIE I certainly agree with you ! She's really one of the best ballad singers ever.

    So happy you enjoyed !!

  • One of my favorites, too. I hope you passed a lovely birthday for Miss Doris Day. She was 88 today. I heard her interview with Mr. Jonathan Schwartz. So great to hear her speak. Did you hear it? So fun. :) xo

  • @eugenesedita Yes.. I love this one. I did hear the interview. Doesn't she sound wonderful ? Hard to believe she's 87 (going by the year she stated in her book). It is so much fun to hear her today. She's still going strong - hopefully for many years to come !!

  • James Cagney was one of the most articulate of Hollywood actors, if not the most. His insight into Doris Day as a performer is right on the nose. I don't know how many people are aware that Cagney was a collector of art and quite knowledgeable about painting and painters. And he was indeed a very fine actor. Maybe his role in "Double Indemnity" was his finest.

  • @284Maldiner I agree with all you said about Cagney... except he wasn't in Double Indemnity.

I have a quote on my page from Cagney - describing Doris as an actress. He asked for her to be in

Love Me or Leave Me. A part completely different from anything she had ever done. They had great

respect for each other. Doris didn't usually do the Hollywood thing but she spoke at his AFI tribute.

  • A revelation! Her vocal quality is so expressive and tinged with just a bit of sadness. No tricks or gimmicks, just attention to the lyrics and a purity of tone. And such presence. So many singers of her period and all of them great talents. When I think of what has disappeared from popular culture I could weep.

  • she to me is thee only singer in the world

she just means a lot to me.

  • This couldn't be more beautiful. What a classy lady Miss Day is.

  • Why wont they bring the troops home? It wouldnt be that you havent fought your battles for 1700 years. Never should have created the imaginary state of grace. Advice to troops overseas go to an airport and 'charge it'. Your families are in a lot of trouble. philipnute com zsezse com
