@thamesuser yes you are correct that the charge regulator prevents charge from going back however, the diode is to prevent the back flow "solar shading" to go from panel to panel since they are in parallel you need the diode to prevent reverse flow from panel to panel

Thanks for the video. What kind of wore did you use though? And doesnt the charge regulator stop the current from going in the other direction at night so do you really need the diode?
