Mother of all that is holy... the comments helped more than this video did... but not much. Drag your m4r into the iTunes portion (NOT THE PHONE) then IN THAT PORTION click and drag it to the phones "Ringtone" section.
Profit.

@god910 dude ! thank you so fucking much ! ! !i had the 3gs before and i had it for a year and never figured out how to put more than 1 ringtone in my 3gs and now i got the 4g for a week ,and im almost losing hope how tio figure this out and then i saw your comment .and fuck ! ! it worked ! thank you so fucking much ! ! !

I figured out the problem with mine so it's probably the same with you!
MAKE SURE that the song is no longer then 30sec!
Mine was 31sec by accident and i changed it and it worked after :)

go to edit / preferences and check the box that says ringtones

I deleted all the info except for the song title like you said and it still makes a copy of it..

i think its only for 1.1.4 but try taking out 1 ringtone at a time and what happens.. it might just be certain ones messing it up
