  • Is the museum open to the public, or is it members only?

  • Hi Keith,

Yes The Museum is open to the public whenever the Park is open

  • Is that lamp house carbon arc or xenon?

What sound formats can it play, full six-track five-screen monaural surround, and all 70mm Dolby formats?

Is that you talking in the background Fred, sounds like your voice. Wow that tinging sound on the spool, its not going to fall off is it. LOL

Those look like JBL 8330 surrounds placed around the cinema. Thanks Fred for sharing.

  • The tinging noise was a feature on a Kalee 21 projector spoolbox. The tinging started at approx 1 minute before the end of the reel as a warning to get ready for a change over. It worked very well. Funny though, on a very cold day, the first couple of reels to be run, the ting may only sound once or twice. It works with a pendulum swinging. When the spool is moving faster (as the film reels off) the pendulum swing increases until it strikes the housing around it.

  • This video was taken some years ago. But still really good to see the Vic X. Enigma cinema is in Bletchley Park as part of the Cinema Museum. Well work a visit.
