@TheRockinQ I actually mispronounced my own last name till I was about 15.

Haha, totally reminds me of "chimpanzee riding on a segway" ^^ such nonsense xD

Some people in Bob Moog's family preferred the MOO-g pronunciation. I think more preferred "Mogue", but Bob definitely preferred it. And, as he was the founder of the company (and it is now the company and more than just a last name), the pronunciation stands as "Mogue". I'm from Asheville, NC (Bob used to teach at UNCA), and the Moog factory is there. They all use "Mogue".

If we want to be consistent "Mogue" is the German pronunciation of the name. In that case, we shouldn't say "weener", we should say "Vinah." That's how "weiner" would be pronounced by a native German speaker.

All the keys are level. Amazing!

@Calphool222: LOL. Bob didn't talk much his first two years. And as a toddler, he probably didn't even know his last name!!

The Minimoog was a miniature version of the modular Moog synthesizers of the 60s. Moog synthesizers were named after Robert (Bob) Moog. He is on record (and on video) stating that the way he preferred to pronounce it was the German way, to rhyme with "vogue." So, for English speakers, technically, the proper way to pronounce it is to rhyme with "food."
Reading about this synthesizer on album liner notes as a child, I never knew the "correct" way and I still say it the old way.

Oh its said Mi-ni-moe-g

@TheRockinQ Uh, maybe no one REALIZES that the correct way to pronounce it is moog, and the last people who pronounced it right all died!

@cheerthinker Then why did Parry Gripp make a second version of this song, saying that in this one it was pronounced correctly?
It's not just dogs... take it from me, anyone who owns a Moog wants to lick it every now and then.

@cheerthinker Dude, if even Bob Moog pronounced it like "Mogue", it's got to be the right way
