Hold onto your hats, this is a really intense G-dcast. One of the oddest, most thorny episodes in the Bible involves a man who suspects his wife of adultery. Inbal Freund-Novick, an Israeli activist for women's rights, tells the difficult tale of the accused wife in Parshat Naso. Hard to believe this stuff is in the Torah, but it's undeniably fascinating.

This is Episode 35 of the weekly Torah cartoon from G-dcast.com. Each week, a different storyteller - some musical, some poetic, some just straight-up, tell the story of the current Torah portion...and then we animate it!

  • What about the unfaithful man? How does the torah address this?

  • @forestcats Good question! The Torah doesn't have an exact duplicate of the case for men, which people might understandably find disturbing. Generally an unfaithful man's repentance comes by being mandated to care for the woman, or to take her on as an additional wife (in Torah times, men could marry more than 1 woman).

  • @forestcats (Continuing) keep in mind, Biblical marriage was a different concept than we hold today-it meant he had to house her, feed her, and protect her. It's not equal, but it's the Torah's way of making sure everyone is protected.

  • Uh.. SHOMER NEGIAH!!

  • What a ridiculous ritual. It's easy to see why people who claim to be religious nowadays would rather forget the mumbo-jumbo associated with their fable's original practises.

  • I really love the way you present the Parshat, Shalom Aleichem !!!
