I bought Chessmaster 10th edition, I know I'm no GM, but I need my practice. And for kicks put it against Rybka online, but it keeps crashing around endgame positions, with 3-4 pawns, and 1 or 2 minor pieces. I was wondering if it is a bit weaker online. It happened twice, I swear ChessMaster was winning, but i lack the GM board vision.

I haven't played online, only on one machine, to see how they duel out on equal ground. I don't have it on my system anymore, I upgraded to XP 64 bit and haven't had the chance to reinstall Fritz.

Thanks, i used this video to test my screen recorder and format converter software. I used to play alot of chess indeed, studying tons of openings and endings, i love it. I may upload more videos about chess in the future.
Rybka 1.0 beta is a strong engine. I played it against Zappa 1.1 and Rybka wiped the floor with Zappa. There is a new free version of Rybka, it's Rybka 2.2n2 and has a improved book to go with it.

Yes it is, when Rybka 3.0 comes out the 2.2n2 becomes free, which is much stonger than the previous 1.0. If the commercial fritz 10 is somewhat close to the strength of 1.0 beta, it absolutely has no chance against the 2.2n2...I played a relatively formal 8 games 40/40+40/40 match between them and Rybka achieved a stunning score of 7.5/8.

how do u make different engines play each other on chessbase 9? like if i wanted to make rybka battle shredder for ex.?

I don't know about CB9 but in Fritz10 UI u just create a new UCI engine using the free or commercial engine files u may download from somewhere else, set up several parameters, and create a new match between them, or, if there are many engines, a round robin tournament among them. You may also designate a certain opening book and endgame tablebases for the engines.

I don't have chessbase10, only the program Fritz 10 not upgraded to 11. u can check out chessbase's website to find more info, it should have updated database and more functions.
