I rescued this Mynah Bird when he was around 3 days old. He has has now become part of the family and quite a conversationalist a year later

  • I want to eat some Pa-Pa-YAAAAAH!

  • @vonBelfry Exactly and he tells me this every morning

  • Are they nice and gentle?

  • @xHappyJello Kaleo is nice but the day he took over the bathroom cabinet to make a nest he showed a territorial not so nice side..haha

I love him but he is a handful..a huge commitment. Best to leave in the wild. He was a rescue that could not be released due to a bad leg. He is very much family and I wouldn't trade him for anything.. I just don't want my videos to encourage people to try and have one for a pet

  • Hi. . . .just curious, what island do you live on? I'm on Oahu and just rescued a week-ish old mynah. Wondering what tips you can give me for keeping him alive? We're doing the soaked cat food thing. Is that what you did?

  • @jeylan515 I am so sorry for not seeing this sooner...were you able to raise your Mynah? I used a glass dropper to give him a formula of Exact (found at a feed store) mixed with pureed papaya..lots of love and attention. Wanted to release him but he had a bad leg. I hope you were able to find helpful information..

  • When I rescued him I was aware they could talk. I intended to release him into the wild but when I realized something was wrong with his foot I figured I might have to keep him. At that point I talked to him all the time.I selected certain phrases I wanted him to learn & he started picking things up quickly the first 2 years. He has also made up his own phrases. They are so intelligent & sensitive. A BIG commitment. Not a bird to spend its life in a cage.He has become a family member.. free to fly

  • i love this sooooooooo much!!!!!!! is it easy to teach him to speak?

  • @mshk1989 No I have taught my dogs to get along.... one of my corgis raised an orphaned chicken so they are awesome with the rescues we help

  • @ceilao1 Thanks for your post... I am sorry to hear of your loss but I am glad you were able to share in the experience of getting to know one of these intelligent birds. I have heard many people in Australia consider them as pests.. so sad
