  • @konafishlover It is reactionaries like you who put a damper on our hobby. Of course there are some abuses, the same as poachers on land but for the most part nearly all large scale tropical marine distributors of fish, invertabrates, reef rock adhere to these conservation laws and have sound ecological practices.

  • @konafishlover As a marine aquarist I disagree. Most live corals as well as most marine fish are farm raised. Bans exist in most reef areas of the world against coral and fish harvesting. Nearly all live rock that is obtaine from reputable dealers that is used in marine aquariums is farm raised in areas near reefs but dead base rock is used salvaged from underground ancient reefs and raised in seawater to mature to live rock. Many thosands to millions of people keep successful marine tanks.

  • Not cool. Coral reefs are being decimated by fish collectors for aquariums. In Hawaii many of these fish cannot be found as so many have been taken off the reef that they are nearly gone. Fish in the ocean live many years longer than fish in tanks. Aquariums are cruel and mean destruction of the ocean environment. View the video "Hawaii Audubon Society" to learn more!
