Lotus Esprit versus Ford Mustang 5.0L w/bolt ons

UNABLE TO EDIT FOOTAGE - 50 mph roll is at 2:10..

The Mustang is a 5.0 roller lifter car and has 70 mm MAF, BBK intake, Edelbrock Manifold, BBK 70mm throttlebody / spacer, Patriot Heads, 3.73 gears, BBK shorty headers, Flowmaster exhaust, Walboro 255, Trans Go shift kit, and AC/smog pump delete.

The Esprit is an SE (2.2L turbo with chargecooler) running a GT2560 (boost unknown), exhaust, chipped ECU.

That UN-1 gearbox isn't going to last long if they keep driving it like that. I sheered my input shaft on my 89 w/ relatively light mods. DB didn't make the upgraded input shaft any longer, so I ended up replacing it w/ an original that was cryotreated. No issues after that....then again, I didn't do much in the way of standing start abuses.

that does look like a 4 cyl. lotus. a 4 cyl. lotus can do about 170 mph. Look at "lotus fast and furious" on youtube

Cool video. Love how the old school 4 cylinder turbo kicks the stangs butt. Actually they are both nice cars but I prefer the Esprit.

@94STANG562 The earliest Lotus was a small engine that had the most HP per liter around. The only issue with the lotus is it is a british car and it is sensitive to launch. You have to be gentle on the launch.

dude mustangs suck. And you tried rolling at 50mph against a turbocharged v8 lotus? What were you thinking? Mid-range those cars have monster torque. My 320hp Saab can eat a mustang in mid-range easy. Hope you bolt-ons didn't cost too much - you could have bought a used lotus twin turbo. haha
