This is a little video I put together for my final project in Clothing Selection, a class I've been taking for fun just to keep my brain moving for grad school.

Objectives:
-Who am I styling? Me :).

-Pick at least 5 basic outfits/styles for the core of the wardrobe. I think I ended up with almost 10?

-Choose a base color (doesn't have to be neutral). I started out wanting red as my base color, but when I went to the boutique, it ended up being black, which was a little surprising because I'm always looking for bright, noticeable colors.

-What features do I want to emphasize? Personality/physical qualities: spunky, decisive, pensive, introspective, short/petite, olive skin, golden brown hair, assertive, curious, creative.

-Look in the person's closet, what works and what doesn't work - what can stay and what needs to be recycled/donated? Inside the closet: what isn't working - trendy pieces from past seasons that are not in style anymore, and I also have a problem with having TOO MANY clothes! What IS working in my closet: classic pieces...slacks, A-line skirts, jersey-knit dresses, jeans, vintage sweaters, thrifted boots, leggings, tights, and pumps.

-What is the person's lifestyle? Work 30 hrs, starting grad school in the Spring '09, coordinate Open Mic Nights, salsa dance, cook, write, sometimes travel. I'm a busy gal!

-Determine the cost of new items/wardrobe. I'm on a student budget so I need affordable, durable clothing for my diverse lifestyle.

-What are the goals of the wardrobe plan?
*Get aspiring career clothing
*Cleanse closet of unnecessary items
*Affordable clothing that is durable
*Trendy classics that are youthful & feminine, but won't go out of style for many seasons

  • Staples are White collar shirt, pretty details, straight leg pants, regular black and red thin belt, pink gloves, olive colored or mustard colared hat works well with our color hair, grey sweater, black turtleneck, and beige turtleneck too, pearls, ... Great dresses!!! The one with circles, try side hat, small like from 1930's with flower or feathers. Great selections!
