"Stagefright" by Samoyed.
One of the first demos ever recorded by Alex Dickson in 1986 aged just 16. Hear the boy wonder shred! Alex joined Samoyed based around guitarist David Christie and singer Mark Christie. Alex's brother Hugh played bass for a while.
I've got a few more of Alex's early tracks if anyone's interested. Some great stuff there.

  • Just remembered, I've got some Dickson/Christie on my bebo from the Faith years (I stood in for The Sands for a wee while). Username is roncocker.

  • I checked out the Faith recordings on your Bebo - got on any more info on those?

That's a lot of Dr Pop for one person there too. Any connection?

  • Might have to see if I can upload a rare "Brown Guitars" (Dickson/Sands/McKeown (i.e. me...)...also have got some tapes of Davie noodling a la Malmsteen...with some serious synth action in the background...

.Dr Pop guy, is that Hillis et al?

  • was just thinking of big allan sands whom i went to hunter high with. he played bass with these guys although it was hugh dickson on the demo tape. found the articles on his climbing death tonight and felt very nostalgic. here's to the key youth and ek 80s' rock. it seemed trivial at the time but somehow important now. allan you were a gentle giant and a musical talent. to all his family and friends, his memory is not lost. remembered fondly and missed. see you soon big fella.

  • thank god he laid of that shitty transistor amp, that useless floyd rose, decided not ever to play glitter hard rock again in his life and, most of all, discovered one picking per note was actually enough

  • @sinclairZX81 if you have any more of this please email it to me uncleglenn2002@yahoo.ca those were the heady days of 80s E.K. rock. loved to watch these guys. mark went on to do his indie pop which sounded not bad.

  • loved watching alex at the kewy and the village theatre. also as jinx in shadows shortly before they split. he upped the standard of guitar playing in ek by showing everyone they could do it. dave christie developed into a very good guitarist to. would love to hear anything else you have. those were the days.

  • i remember them playing battle off the band at crystals around 86, the guitar player was out off this world

  • Local Rock can never die!!!!

  • Not really, I recorded a couple with them at Alex's flat but I think these are Sands ones (the fretless stuff is anyway). Dr Pop is no coincidence, I played bass. There's a Kill TV vido on here.

  • Ah, strap-locks. Them were the days.
