At age 17 Robert dropped out of school to head to New York to pursue his acting career. With his quick wit and magnetic personality, its safe to say, he picked the right career path.

While successful in films, in 2000 Robert decided to join the cast of Ally McBeal, a decision that would see him at his best and worst. In 2001 he won a Golden Globe for his role in the series but Roberts involvement with Ally McBeal was cut short after he was arrested on drug charges, and was sentenced to a year in a drug rehabilitation centre.

After his long struggle with drugs, Robert made a visible effort to bring some stability into his life and with his new life, Robert had something to sing about; and sing he did, releasing his first album The Futurist.
