2011 Jeff Byrd 500 - Your Weekly Travis Kvapil Caution

If you thought Sam Hornish Jr. was the caution king, Travis Kvapil once again causes (or gets involved in) a caution at the 2011 Jeff Byrd 500 at Bristol.

Critisize Travis all you want, but hes an excellent driver. This spin and and the Phoenix wreck were just bad luck deals, got turned in both. Although he has scraped up his car a lot this season, hes a proven driver with wins and a championship in the truck series. I hope he can get his season turned around (no pun intended) because he a good dude who deserves some good results.

@jrfan07 I believe he should focus more on the Truck series.

Don't get me wrong, the kid's got talent, he just can't show it in the Cup Series because of the performance of the cars he's in. Kind of like what drivers like Jeff Green and Scott Riggs went through when they went from Nationwide/Busch Series to Cup.

robby gordon is another guy who wrecks every week :) lol kvapil wrecks in every race too so...

@jukucoca True, but it is not as much as Travis. If you look at Kvapil this year so far, he's been in a wreck in all of the Truck Series races so far. For the Cup Series: Caused 2 or 3 cautions in the Daytona 500 by hitting the wall, was involved in the big one at Phoenix, and this spin today.

The only race I think he did not cause a caution was the Las Vegas race two weeks ago (though he did hit the wall during practice).

@alexminardi In all fairness, David has done ok for his situation. Third at Daytona, ninth at Tally, he's led some laps. He's definitely not in prime equipment and it is unfair to him and Travis, but the story could be worse. They're not on an "out of the picture" team, they at least have some chances.

I think some of the comments are a little unfair. Weren't two of his Daytona wrecks caused by tyre failures? At Phoenix several cars were in that wreck. Kvapil didn't start it and very nearly had it missed. This one looks like Martin spun him or at least loosened him up. He had some good rides in that unsponsored Yates car. Shame to see him (and Gilliland) in a back of the grid team. Hope they can improve.

@trainboy32 yea Mark spun Kevin. Harv wasn't too impressed about it either, you could tell he was pretty ticked off about it, considering that's the second time this season hes been turned by Martin in almost the same fashion. First time was at Phoenix lol.
