Former Marine Testifies at Voter ID Hearing - State House Panel Approves Repeal!

Former Marine Tim Thompson continued his impassioned protest against Tennessee's Voter ID law, calling it "Un-American". His remarks were made to the House State and Local Government subcommittee considering repeal of the state's Voter ID law. Soon after his testimony, the House Panel approved the repeal of the state's Voter ID law by a vote of 5-3. The bill, however, remains law - and the repeal bill will next go before the full State and Local Government Committee. Filmmaker David Earnhardt filmed Thompson's comments to the panel.

Thompson's protest began on Super Tuesday, when he went to his local precinct to vote, but refused to show his Picture ID. He left without voting. His story was featured on Rachel Maddow's MSNBC newscast, as well as numerous Tennessee TV, radio and newspaper outlets.

No one else is allowed to vote. Haven't you registered to vote? Don't you remember what you had to do in order to get your voter ID card? THINK back...hard.  What did you do, just walk in the office and demand the card? Come on. And, by the way, for the types of fraud that, MINIMALLY(as in zero to none) occur, a picture doesn't stop it. If you fraudulently obtain a DL or State ID, guess what? You're voting illegally and presenting that ID does NOTHING to stop you from doing so!!!

WADR: You cannot get a voter registration card without showing requisite ID. You've already shown your ID to GET the card. On the off chance that someone loses that card, and someone else 'uses' that card to vote, guess what? 1) They can only vote ONCE 2) If you're dumb enough to LOSE your Voter ID card, YOU DESERVE TO LOSE YOUR VOTE! I mean come on, so many citizens, NOT just military, have lost their lives fighting to vote, NO ONE should be losing their cards. THINK about it.

WHO says we allow illegal citizens to vote? What PROOF do you have that liberals and Dems provide them with 'free' entitlements, also provide them with citizenship paperwork? As it so happens, its the CONSERVATIVES who run companies that HIRE ILLEGALS in the first place! Did you register to vote yet? Haven't you been through the process? You must SHOW PROOF when you REGISTER! Only someone who hasn't been through registration to vote doesn't know this.

I am a Vietnam vet. I agree with this law. ID shd be shown before you can vote. Has nothing to do with race just common sense. Shd I be able to vote in Iraq 's election? Under this law I would be because I don't even have to prove I am a citizen to do so. Not sure why, Mr. Thompson, you are objecting. What am I missing here?

I appreciate the sentiment of the fine American Former Marine. I understand his point. However, if you are not a legal resident of a local state, you cannot get a state ID (DL). If you are not a legal citizen of this country you have NO RIGHT to vote. You can't vote in any other country if you are not a CITIZEN of that country! So why do we allow illegal residents to vote? Because they vote for the liberals and Dems who provide them with free entitlements! Show proof you are LEGAL to vote!!

Thank you for your service to our country. I'll hope you want only United States citizens to vote as we are a sovereign nation and no one else should be allowed to vote and influence our country's direction but ourselves.
