Mario Bros. Classic - 999990 points, phase 99 -699-

First time I've reached the score limit (though I've reached phase 99 before, with the help of the continue).

There's a 7-phase cycle from phase 40 onward, so to reach phase 99, you pretty much need to learn how to survive that cycle with an average of 1 life lost every 7 phases.

Anyway, it's amazing how much Touhou has improved my skill at dodging enemies from all different directions at the same time.

If you're wondering about the random pausing, it was to check my life count and/or which phase I was currently on.

By the way, if I figure out a way to increase the speed of videos, I may try uploading a version at triple speed (since I found it quite interesting)... edit 2011-4-30: if I haven't already deleted the original file before then. So maybe not.

...No it didn't. It took perhaps... an hour to upload? I forgot. VBA videos using the ffdshow codec upload pretty quickly in my experience, though.

0:04 wow, you actually beat Yoshi's Island with no deaths and full score. I did that too! It's a pain in the ass for most of the secret levels, good job!

I've done it more than once actually (twice on an actual cartridge and once on an emulator). I'd say the most annoying levels were Extra 5, Secret 4, and Secret 6... though a No.1 playthrough of SMA3 (even with the additional restriction of no items) is easy compared to simply completing worlds 5 and 6 with 100 points in the YI hack Kamek's Revenge. (I have an old playthrough of that hack on my channel if you're curious.)

Wow i always thought this game would have new looking enemies and levels as the game progressed from pipes, lava and then ice hmmm now i know im not missing out. This game could have been much better with more enemy and level design variety instead of ice ice ice crabs bugs and spine enemies. Oh well :(

...what? That was a joke, right? Phases after 99 exist, but they're all labeled 99, as you can see in this video.
