This video was of necessity shot in night mode, low light, as my wife is in such a vile evil migraine she can't even bear to have the curtains drawn or to hear me type. (I'm doing this elsewhere, and more slowly than is my wont, so as to not further aggravate her pain.)

She usually gets a pain shot on Fridays, which was about 2.25 days ago, but this time for what ever reason, she got no relief. So this video shows her lying in a dark room with a cold pack on her head being comforted by our Papillon puppy Hilde while I worked on homework which I had to do online (and so wasn't able to be there to physically comfort her.) Normally I'd take a still of such a cute and precious scene, but she couldn't even bear that, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to give a peek of what life is like for a person with chronic, disabling migraines. (My beautiful wife is 34 and has been disabled almost 3 years.)

  • Too sweet

  • Thank you!

  • I have migraines too. The dogs are a big help and a great comfort. I have a Pomeranian and I did have a Pekingese (but she recently passed away) and they always understand when I am feeling bad. They are very sympathetic. What a sweet little Papillon. We are thinking of adopting a Papillon next time. Yours is a beautiful dog.

  • Sorry to hear about your loss... even though I'm late in responding. Did you ever adopt a Pap?

We have a puppy now, offspring of this dog and our male. He's too cute, but I think he's all we're going to have.

Paps are visually stunning, but what I most love about them is how people-focused they are. They want nothing more than to be part of the family.

Even though toys, they've never growled or snapped at a child... or even an adult, come to think of it.

    Cats and squirrels though... ;>

  • give your wife a hug for me... I know how that is, I'm 22 and have had chronic migraines since I was 9 years old. I've had to stop school and work more times than I can count and have missed more family events and just normal days of my life due to this problem. My thoughts are with you both... I know how hard it is on my fiance too, and I can relate to having someone trying their best to help out!!! good luck

  • Wow... how awful. At least my wife had some adult life without them.

Have you considered the Diamond Headache Clinic or the Michigan Pain Institute?

Of course, my wife's been with Diamond almost 5 years, and all they can offer is palliative care.

Congrats on the Fiance... by now maybe husband, that's great for you both!

  • Interesting... she loves fresh fruit, so I'm sure she'd not mind, :>

  • I'm sorry to hear about your mom. I know how hard it is to watch someone you love suffer and be helpless.

My mom used to get sick when I was a child with something they couldn't treat either, but not migraines.

  • My mom gets bad migranes occasionally, and when they come she has to lay in bed too. I am so sorry about ur wife.

  • great source of comfort

  • Ughh! I hate when people say that! Its like, No... you deal with this for an hour and see how it is!!! (Let alone days on end!)
