Here is a quick time lapse video of me building a Guillow's balsa model airplane, the smaller Hawker Hunter. It's a very easy kit to build and can easily be finished in an evening... especially with the quick help of instacure CA glue!

  • @GerbilEssences Yeah, I did use CA glue on balsa... It was just supposed to last for the video (and make it go FASTER) and I have the plane now covered in transparent monocote. It will hang in my classroom come this September.

  • Ghostly...

  • Yes.. very odd!

  • Bizzare! I looked it up, looks a bit like an La-5?!

  • It suits some planes, but not all.. There's two different 1/72 kits out now of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 X, with a radial engine and 'bubble' canopy.. Looks mighty weird, but I'll probably get one at some point.. :)

  • They fitted lancasters with radials but that looked very WORNG! If you get my drift ;)

  • That's a shame.. about the broken wings!! Put it down to experience... :) Looking forward to the video, will watch as soon as I can, which most likely means tomorrow.. :)

  • I did that little resin glider, but will dfo at least one more resin model with a vac-form canopy for the sake of practise.. before I tackle the B18.. Ideally I'd love to do all three versions of the B18, but that'll set me back a total of £150+ and that is well out of my league! I settled for the radial engined version, which was the slowest type.. they later fitted them with German engines, which made them faster, but in my opinion also a lot UGLIER.. :)

  • Glad you are still modelling away on various planes, and there is always room for a Finnish pun, Suomeni to be made. Great to hear the homelife is good for once :D

I broke the wings on my F4F and consider this to be an end to that project. Video coming tonight. I hope my guillows will fly much better ;)

  • B18, nice!

Goo practise is entirely neccesary for controlling your glue :)
