I grabbed the line so I could lip him (guess at the time that seemed better than netting), but he thrashes and breaks it. Somehow I managed to grab him right out of the water!

He was hooked in the back of his mouth, so during the fight the 25-lb-test flouro line frayed against his sandpaper-y teeth. He wasn't hurt from the hooking or landing, and swam away easily. 29.5 inches.

  • That was just plain luck! I haven't been leashing because of the shallow/clear water in the bays, but I'd have had a harder time recovering it from the river.
