The ocean. At the end of the movie you can see something hitting the water in the background, which is a satellite that fell from orbit. This satellite slowly sinks and hits Cloverfield, he/she wakes up, and goes mad like a female on PMs that woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

That was a very creative and unique looking monster, but it was totally wasted because HOLY CRAP ON A STICK did that movie ever suck balls. I mean, for fucks sake, its a goddamn monster movie, not fucking Twilight, I don't give a flying shit about some vapid teenagers and their fucking relationships, and it took 20 stupid minutes ov uninteresting people talking about nothing before anything happened! I mean, was I supposed to be rooting for them to die?
