These so-called "farmers" (Re: Big agribusiness) make their profits off of Government subsidies and Government supplied water through government-supplied irrigation ditches.

The sense of entitlement these welfare frauds feel is disgusting. Make them actually work for a living instead of profiting off of tax-payer funded infrastructure and subsidies.

These people are FRAUDS.

These are family farms. The government isn't supplying any water, it is taking it away. The taxpayer funded infrastructure is not being used so the taxpayers get no benefit. Resteep is the liar and the fraud. Water is not a welfare entitlement. The farmers cannot work and make a living because without water they have been put out of work. The deceptions and falsehoods of resteep are an example of fradulent claims designed to destroy our economy, our farmland, and our families.

@stormtrx Yes, I do research. Do you? I grew up in that region. The only reason there are farms there is government-supplied waterways. Otherwise, the region would still be a desert.

Putting farmer's short-term profit over the well-being and long-term stability of the aquifer for the entire valley is idiotic, at best. Certainly not 'common sense'.

@resteep Do you do any research before making such a comment? There are tons of acreage left to dust and weeds that was once fertile farmland, because politicians think its better to save a delta smelt than to grow food and save jobs. We need common since back into the people making these decisions.

This is one story that has been swept under the rug. I am praying and doing what I can to help the farmers of California. My local Congressmen Ciro Rodriguez, Charlie Gonzalez and Henry Cuellar all voted for the fish and voted no to the farmers.

If these farmers continue to use water piped in from elsewhere, on the taxpayer's dime, they risk permanently destroying the aquifers with salt water. This is well known. Do the research and prove it wrong based on facts instead of just calling resteep silly names.
