I was sitting in an airport while on tour, miserably hungover, watching others run to the smoking lounge, buy painkillers, stand on line for coffee. I got to thinking, there's a "chemical for every pain". No matter what you are feeling, we're in the "age of the dose" where pharmaceutical companies and cigarette companies, coffee, drugs, energy drinks...pretty much everything, there's something you always seem to need and we all buy it. The video for Chemical Marketplace reflects this sentiment, that there is a chemical for every pain and we are all children of the chemical marketplace stuck in the age of the dose. It's a video that reflects the pharmaceutical warfare in the world today. There is a lot of footage spliced in of factories mass producing drugs and chemicals all through out the vid. It also shows a transformation within the party, of people falling into that tweaked out zone and it's not always pretty. I added a short skit at the intro of the video to show the doctor, Dr. GOD who immediately has a prescription without hearing any symptoms whatsoever. Later in the video we see Dr. GOD transform into the bartender doling out substances and again he transforms into the Devil. Defendshee was able to do some great animations within the video to help get those messages across. It was shot in a bar/cafe that I'm affiliated with in Bushwick, Brooklyn called Kave Klub which is part of the Loom mini-mall. Designer Reka Szandra Toth is responsible for the set which for the most part, is exactly how Kave Klub looks. The video was directed by French director Marcarthur Baralla of Defendshee Productions. The concept was created by ERS with Marcarthur (Mac). evanrussellsaffer.com copyright 2010-2011. All Rights Reserved

  • This song could be the placebo of the chemical marketplace. I hope it goes viral. It's good enough that it should.

  • 0:42 for the music.

  • Very Nice Evan. And I'll See You Friday
