For his extraordinary work in advancing world peace and tolerance, Antti Yrjänä Pentikäinen of Helsinki, Finland was named a 2010 JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World (JCI TOYP) recipient in the category of contribution to children, world peace and/or human rights.
In 2004, Pentikäinen became the Executive Director of Finn Church Aid (FCA), the largest development organization in Finland. Under his leadership, FCA has been active in advocating peace and performing human rights work through fundraising and humanitarian programs. Pentikäinen was honored in 2009 to be chosen as the Chairman of Aprodev, a European lobbying and coordination organization for ecumenical aid agencies. This year, Pentikäinen helped establish the ACT, an alliance of churches and church-related organizations dedicated to humanitarian assistance and development. Pentikäinen's efforts can be seen across the globe as he continues to create peaceful conflict resolution and help those suffering from oppression. Pentikäinen was just recently invited to become Director of Religions for Peace (RfP) Conflict Transformation Programs. RfP is working globally with religious leaders to advance peace.
