I give you the first movement of Rachmaninoff's famous All-Night Vigil, performed by my own personal chamber choir. :D All the voices are me, and there are 25 in total, with 6 per part plus an extra bass.

I intend to record the entire Vespers, probably in order of performance, so I will be following this one up with the second movement sometime soonish.

I used Acoustica Mixcraft coupled with a Perception 100 mic, a Firebox preamp, and a StudioV3 preamp.

  • wow, great work. how do you do the timing on the multitrack? do you do one voice and then keep using that as a sort of master tempo?

I kind of want to say your group's "sense of ensemble" is excellent ... but there's just one of you! :)

  • Haha, thank you! :)

For this one I did indeed use one voice as a guide. I started with the bass because that's what I am "in real life" :P so it's the easiest. I also initially had some tracks there to keep my pitch from drifting. So for this one I had a C Major chord playing in the background the whole time while singing, until the first few tracks were done.

  • I gotta start reading the descriptions, I was wondering what the other comments were about. One voice? Ha it's a choir..... oh wait, it's not. It's one guy with kick ass skill and an awesome voice!

  • awesome! and the bass voice is very soft and deep. Besides, the pronounciation is fantastic, you russian heh?

  • wow - respect for that!! And the picture is so lovely.

  • Первый раз слышу такого варианта - ничего себя, молодец !

Особенно удивительно чувства ансамбля и интонаций - поклон !

  • This is really well done. I've read through the score of the priiditye, and you have done brilliantly. The soprano and alto are sung and mixed beautifully. Do please let me know if you do any more such work on Rachmaninof's Vespers, particularly the Nyne Otpushchaeshi. As I recall, the composer asked for it to be sung at his funeral. I hope he got his wish.

  • awesome! good job!

  • This sounds really beautiful.

  • Молодец !!!
