  • neck circles should be done downwards only, start facing downwards, hold five seconds, hold facing left down (i.e. facing the floor) for five seconds, hold facing left up for five seconds, do the same the other side.

  • Neck circles are a great way to aggravate the neck. As a physical therapist, one of the first things I address with any of my patients with cervical pathology is to absolutely make sure they eliminate neck circles. I would encourage you to look at the Spurling's maneuver which is a commonly used orthopedic test and look how much neck circles resemble this maneuver. I would strongly recommend that you take a look at Judy Alter's book entitle Surviving Exercise too, esp because it's less than $1
