Einstein saw a big problem with Newton's theory, a problem that arose from his work with light. Einstein knew light doesn't travel instantaneously. In fact, it takes eight minutes for the sun's rays to travel the 93 million miles to the earth. And since he had shown that nothing, not even gravity, can travel faster than light, how could the earth be released from orbit before the darkness resulting from the sun's disappearance reached our eyes?

Space time and all the matter that exist today came out of the "big bang". Hydrogen gas was created in abundance..due to gravity hydrogen was heated up so hot their atoms bonded creating helium. Everything else followed....

can any one answer one thing...from where did all that matter came in existence to happen a big bang???? there must be some other source beyond the universe...its impossible for all that material to come with out some source!!!!! any one has any theory about this???

@goldykhandait There have been discussions in the science community and theories are being worked on how could something from nothing come about. And it is possible for multiverses such as one universe having bumped into another one, causing the big bang. But this hasn’t even developed into a theory yet. Now that also “ dark flow” has come into the equation, now more so it is astrophysicists feel it is possible our Universe is just a part of many.

@truemaskedwabbit I didn't remember responding to this comment until I re-read the others. I know my response was simplistic but when it comes right down to it.....we really don't know. The Big Bang as its referred to....is nothing more than a theory. But a plausible one. It answers a lot of questions but it also creates a lot of questions. Those who believe in the Bible see God as creating the spark (or the big bang) that began creation...others believe in many universes...who knows?

We don't have a clue as to what caused the big bang or the inflation that followed but as theory goes space time (a single entity) was created from the big bang and matter and anti-matter were created from it. Nobody seems to know what happened to all the anti-matter. Makes you wonder if dark matter or dark energy might have been created from matter and anti-matter annilating one another. We just don't know! Hydrogen atoms (gas) seems to be the first matter created, gravity did the rest
