I also found covering the magnet with a piece of packing tape made the magnets release a bit easier, and putting less strain on yourself and your equipment. Magnets we a tad aggressive for thier purpose.
Roger Jennings offers some cool tips on setting up your 'off contact'. Use a sheet of glass or plexiglass on your platten. A level on the frame lock works well too as long as your press is level to begin with!

is it small?
would it be a real hassle to do a half print shirt?
if it is, could i maybe weld a longer beam at the bottom to use an "all over screen"?
