@kstsfx Obama is full of shit. He says we support the women marching in Iran and girls going to school in Afghanistan. Total bullshit. Obama has increased drone attacks which have killed hundreds of civilians. America is the most violent nation on Earth. It has 5% of the world's population and yet accounts for 40% of the world's military spending. War is NOT peace.
Yes, agreed. There is a huge difference. But my point was about the dangers of nuclear waste and that the full cost of nuclear power is not clear. Just as fossil fuels require inordinate tax payer support to "protect our foreign interests" (e.g., US military protection of Saudi oil terminals), nuclear power requires complex CIA networks to track would be terrorists. These tax payer costs never make it into the cost benefit analysis of nuclear power. Then there is the waste disposal issue.
You misunderstand the HUGE difference between nuclear weapons and nuclear power. I believe you are unaware of the amount of security that a nuclear power plant possesses. A larger grid with the support of base load nuclear power plants is energy security. It helps bridge the gap from fossil based plants to alternatives and renewables. That is energy security. A nuclear power plant is not a bomb.

Trying to reduce nuclear weapons, but still pursuing nuclear power? And we think we can keep these terrible chemicals out of the hands of terrorists? This is not energy security by a long shot!
Obama speaking to adhering to our "common values" made me wonder what our "common" values are. Then I saw the military brass sitting there stony faced when Obama mentioned gays. But Obama hit it - inadvertently or not - our country lacks "common values". Even within my own family this is an issue.
