Couldn't have said it better- Those tapes can highlight different parts of my life. I can point to exactly where I was every time I got one of those tapes sent from NY- like a photo album. These days you can't even remember what song was hitting last year. I hope no one has the nerve to gank his name like so many other new DJs have done to so many great ones just because they were not there to know. Thanks Red for bringing me up with your artistry.

I would go so far as 2 call alert a founder/pioneer in hip hop..... put the blueprints down......I remember my cutty bringin me mix tapes from ny after visiting his folks in strong island.... word....shit was always dope.

Mr. DJ Red Alert, I want to say to you i'm from Omaha, NE. I got turned onto mixed tapes from 98.7 kiss f.m. back in 1985 by a brothat that moved to Omaha from Brooklyn. Til this day i don't think there is a dj alive that can mix like you with teh soul and precision that you did and still do. Im glad to see that people know about you and that you are getting your props to this new generation which i still dont think most get it. Nobody does it like you 30 years later. GOD BLESS!

No disrespect meant with my reply to seehound619 but you can never take props away from Kool Hurc as being the one and only true Godfather of Hip Hop- There is no Debate on this. But Red Alert is the one and only Godfather of DJ Mix Shows- Again no Debate. But after Red you need to come with Marley Marl, Then Chuck Chill Out, The Awsom Two, Jazzy joyce, Pete Rock (Yep he started on the radio). Now here are a couple of names to drop for you original Hip Hop heads... Chilly Q & Little Red Alert.
