  • she gets a few things wrong here. I think these ideas she has that are wrong are holdovers from her anti-Mormon days.

She quotes Bruce McConkie's Mormon Doctrine and laments that it is still sold on the shelves of the Bookstores. BUT her quoted passage is from the ORIGINAL MD -- the one condemned by the 1st Presidency and later corrected. That passage is NOT found in the corrected version.

Also, she did not check very well. McConkie was NOT an apostle when he wrote that.

  • @ImLDSRU2 i believe she mentioned that the quote is in the original book which many members still have (including me)...i cant say wether mcconkie was an apostle at the time or not but he at least was a respected leader and his book was (still is) a stumbling block for members and nonmembers alike. anyway she is human and should be given the room to make a mistake here or there. she made quite a few good points.

  • I dont hate the Mormons. They have a wonderful concept of heaven and i love the idea of temples. But i wish they did not have a past dislike of my people.Well,at least they tried to correct that and whom am i to judge. They are black groups who say things about white people thats not nice.If they can change maybe we can aswell.

  • @Moxleyvb That's right. But she says that she checked!

  • @ImLDSRU2 Mormon Doctrine 1st Edition was published in 1958. He was a member of the first quorum of the seventy at the time. He did not become an Apostle until 1972.

  • @fairldsdeaf , McConkie was not an Apostle. But she absolutely claims "I know because I checked" that he was an apostle. She's not a good fact checker. McConkie got in a lot of hot water over publishing that book. It required substantial revision by other apostles. The first one was condemned. Does she mention that at all? No. She does not say it is a stumbling block -- she says it is still sold. Clearly she has not checked her facts.
