  • the 32x version had poor music but whay and more sound effects.

the snes versioon had better music but weird and way less sound effects.

the snes version has the original textures and colors but lacks textures on flours & ceilings.

the 32x version has textures all over the place but they,re different and in different colors.

the 32x has more speed & instant control response whereas the snes version has poor speed & control response.

but i wonder is the superfx2 compareble with the 32x chip?

  • @johneymute I don't think so. The Super FX2 chip is very impressive for what it is and it runs at up to 21MHz but remember the 32X has dual 32-bit RISC processors in it each at 23MHz. Even if the SFX2 was as good as one of them it could'n't match the two of them paired up.

  • Makes me wonder if someone with skills could take a fx2 chip from the doom game and connect it to the starfox board

  • @Standard420247 Yeah I dunno if it's tied into the SNES CPU base clock cause I think the Super FX chip got it's clock speed off the SNES through the extra contacts in the cart slot. It certainly could run faster with the SFX2 chip cause Starfox is a little slow for sure.

  • Sound quality is still amazing for Super Nintendo!

  • @PenguinmanN64 Yeah from what I remember seeing the 3DO and Saturn version look REALLY slow. This one's playable once you get used to the lag. It's true you do get used to it after awhile and then you start controlling better. I love the music in the SNES version personally. It's not perfect but it beats listening to the 32X music! It's very impressive they got this running on the SNES even with the Super FX2 chip it was a miracle and I was amazed by it back in the day.

  • @MN12BIRD I don't now why so many people bash on this version of Doom. Sure it runs pretty slow but it isn't any slower than the 3DO version. It has great music but most people says that the music is horrible. The controller lag is very easy to get use to. Many ignore the Super Nintendo's limitation, literally thinking that this version shouldn't have any flaws. I still like this port of Doom and I understand it's shortcomings unlike other people.

  • @penguinfanlol Doom SNES I've never played Doom 64 but I do know it's a very different game.

  • I was going to mention that thing about the enemy only having 1 direction, but I see you noticed already. All and all I think they did a good job in this port.

  • @MN12BIRD Well, the framerate wasn't that bad, I think that the Saturn and 3DO versions had a much much worse framerate.

  • Thats wierd, i had a pal version and it was full screen
