Courtesy of pianist Louis Lortie (website www.louislortie.com). I do not own the copyright, and am referring to the website as to the actual content holder.

I saw a recording of this a couple of years ago on TV, and was blown away. After the First Movement, I thought it would be it. But seeing that he continued with all 4 movements, I raced and recorded on vhs the remaining 3 (which I will try to upload somehow and link with this clip).

Ironically, his website only had the 1st movement (Symphony No. 5), therefore I will try to upload movements 2-4 sometime.

This was recorded on Sept 8, 2001 in Montreal, for a live recording. I can't seem to find a official album version anywhere as well. Louis Lortie is also a conductor is a master pianist known for his interpretation of Ravel, Chopin and Beethoven

  • Although the music is beautiful to listen to, I can't watch the actual video part because he just looks too full of himself for me to take him seriously...

  • @PanderflyLUV

He isn't! He's very passionate and actually quite eloquent when he talks. Also, he's arguably the greatest Chopin pianist around, which requires alot of emotion and technique.

I actually just got into loading VHS tapes and I have the rest of his performance on it which I will load shortly. Check it out when it is, and you'll see him giving it his all with even more emotion!

  • There are movements 2-4, but I have to transfer it from vhs.. definitely a treat!

  • @at1212b I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend. That was just how it came off to me. But like I said, he play's beautifully.

  • Merci M. Lorite pour votre magnifique récital vendredi à La Chaux-de-Fonds.Je ne voulais pas manquer votre venue ! A l'année prochaine j'espère. J'ai acheté votre compostion avec les oeuvres complètes de Beethoven !...BRAVO mais j'ai trouvé que le public aurait pu se lever pour vous ovationner comme l'année passée !

  • tremendous performance ! power , emotion, humanity :) that's Beethoven... for sure!

  • To play a piece for orchestra on the piano, and Beethoven to boot, requires emotion. To infuse the energy and power of an orchestra into 10 fingers demands emotion and energy. Thank you, Mr. Lortie, for this excellent transcription and performance. Bravo!

  • hey man why do you get angry so fast ? chillax
