The last movement of my Quaker Cantata, Democracy. The soloist is Sam Sadigursky, Sue Erenberg is the soprano.

When I heard the learnd astronomer,
When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns before me,
When I was shown the charts and diagrams, to add, divide, and measure them,
When I sitting heard the astronomer where he lectured with much applause in the lecture room,
How soon accountable I became tired and sick,
Till rising and gliding out I wanderd off by myself,
In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time
Lookd up in perfect silence at the stars

The full lineup: Susan Erenberg-Soprano, Stefan Paolini-Tenor, Sam Sadigursky-Alto Sax/Flute, Peter Hess-Tenor Sax/flute, Barry Seroff-guitars, Carl Testa- double bass, Jorge Mesa-electric bass, Peter Wise-percussion, Ed Klinger-drumset. Premiered at Issue Project Room, Brooklyn, on March 25th, 2010.
