The 4X4 Trailblazer 4.2 engine is different. It's not only tightly packed into the engine compartment, it also has the front axle going right thru the oil pan. So, if you have to R&R the engine you better take that into account or you'll loose big time on the job. This is not a step-by-step procedure to R&R a 4.2 We had one come in with the engine locked up so we had to pull the tranny with the engine, but we opted to raise the body instead. So, this is more of a heads up on what your getting into. We hope it helps.

@rmcdev are you retarded, this engine was on the wards 10 best engines list for 4 years straight. Ive seen these trucks go for well over 250,000 mile, and even one over 500,000miles. By the looks of the truck, the owner probably neglected the engine maitainence... And If you know anything about GM cars, you would know that the 3800 is a damn good engine too, and it didnt even make the list. That should say something about it.

Typical GM Garbage. This Might be the WORST engine design i've seen. Ever.

I watched this video when my tb blew a rod and yes that would be a much easier way if you have a lift but i took my front end off (headlights and core support) and i was able to pull the engine, trans, and transfer case all in one out the front. Thanks for the vid it sure helped out alot.

I'd hate to see the labor bill on that job. Only in America could we make simple things overly complicated... That's overkill. Great work guys..
