  • Just from the sixth chapter of Mormon alone we read of 229,976 Nephites killed in a gigantic battle near where present day Palmyra, New York stands. And that number doesn’t even include the Lamanite opposition forces. Yet there are no archaeological finds that corroborates this fantastic battle. For this many men to fall in battle in the space of a few days without benefit of modern weapons (swords, spears, and bows only please), the imagination must really be stretched.

  • @fairldsorg And since the Mayans only used stone tools, none of those cities or future settlements from the Mayans can possibly be of BoM origin due to the fact that they used metal as affirmed in that book. Why is the Mormon church only OFFICIAL BoM place the hill Cumorah? What would the scientific community discredit your findings? What happened to the peer review process? Do many mainstream peer reviewed, journal writing scientists confirm your findings? Who are they?

  • @fairldsorg There is very little explanation here, practically nothing. Also, the Mayans were a very sophisticated post neolithic society with NO metal tools in direct opposition to the many METAL mentions in the BoM!

  • Are there any non LDS Scholars that think the BOM has any historic or geographic validity?

  • Being the producer of the video, I have a little insight on what was being said. In context, they were refuting a Hemispheric geography theory. They all understand and believe that it did expand beyond it (how else would the plates get to NY?), but the point of the video was to refute a common misconception on BOM geography.

  • It was an "us and them" mentality. Anyone who wasn't a Nephite was a Lamanite. Since those in Missouri were not Nephite, they would constitute Lamanites.

NY was within the geographical boundries of the BOM story, just not the main events of the BOM story.

  • The term lamanite has several meanings in the BOM. A familial, tribal and political. In essence, anyone who wasn't a Nephite, was a Lamanite.

  • They were carried

  • I think this theory is just that, a theory and because of this theory I think it has opened the LDS church to more criticism. These are scholars not prophets.
