The fourth and final primary ingredient of beer is water. Water is the largest portion of the beer that you drink, and depending on the mineral content can have a large variety of impacts on the finished beer.

Bass Pale Ale is brewed at Burton on Trent which has famously hard water. It is my opinion that this contributes in no small part to the tremendous resolution of the flavors in Bass Ale.

I made the video at Lovejoys in Austin, TX.

  • What can be said about Austin city water since they make a bunch of beers right there too?

  • Nice analysis, though I would say that Bass Ale is more like 'common muck' over here in England. There are far superior ales, and quite a number too.

  • I find Bass too dry and lacking character.

  • Got to love the Bass. I am gonna check out Lovejoys when I go to Austin.
