How can we expect the United States to combat climate change if President Obama can't say the words "climate change"?

Young people around the country are asking President Obama to stand up and speak out for urgent and ambitious action to combat climate change. Failure to address climate change is not only wrong-headed short-term political expediency, but also a long-term obstruction to solving the grave political, economic, and environmental challenges of our time.

Go ahead, you can do it, President Obama.
This Tuesday, break the silence. Be a leader.

During your State of the Union Address, we need you to say two words:
Climate change.

  • About as stupid as saying "sun rise". The sun has always risen, and the climate has always changed.

  • Thanks for your polite response. Iraq is a modern country by Arab standards, secular and educated, they stood out among their peers in that way, They have a form of democracy and freedom now. The Middle East has thrown off the yoke of dictatorship and is now aligning itself towards the West at the UN. We started that in Iraq. CO2 ppm is very low as a % of atmosphere and we are adding to it from a very low base. The temp increase is tiny, a figure has been put on it.....it's less than 1 degree.

  • @BTsmoke Though Sadam was removed the entire region is mired in mind set of the 9th century. I think our efforts will, in the end, prove to be for naught. As to the climate change I can not believe that mankind has not had influence on the climate. The industrial revolution began in the 1700's. With the burning of coal and later other fossil fuels, carbon previously locked in the earth is now released into the current ecological sphere. If I read correctly this is where we have the imbalance.

  • @1foxtrot70 Bush was right about the science...its garbage and the East Anglia emails prove it. America achieved total victory in Iraq. These are facts.

  • The reason he will not say it is because there is no such thing as man made climate change. It is not getting hotter, obviously, there is not more hurricanes or storms and sea levels did not rise in fact they went down. Europe is frozen AGAIN and glaciers have stopped receding.

  • You realize that we have it on the best authority from the first President Bush he stated that "Climate change is all VOO-Doo science". I wonder when the Atlantic ocean starts lapping at his front door step, in Kennybunkport, Maine...will he finally wake up to his mistaken statement.
