This is the directorial debut of Michael Dougherty, the protege of Brian Singer,
the director of X-Men, X2 and Superman Returns.

This movie was actually set to be released in theaters two years ago, but was cancelled until now for parental backlash concerning depicted violence toward children...pussies.

This movie was based on a animated short that can be found on the DVD.
