If you don't wanna use capsules. You can check out DeLonghi EC155 according to the customer reviews at Amazon it's a very good machine at a very affordible price (like 90 euro's/120 dollars US).

@VonTrousers If what you had in Italy tastes like Nespresso you went to the wrong cafe(s) for sure. Unfortunately, it takes time and learning to understand when you've been served a crappy shot. The last two cafe's I visited gave me shots that were not right. They may not even realize it!

@renix Blah. My nespresso tastes better than what I buy in the coffee chains and better than what I can make without a lot of tail-pain at home. Most importantly, it tastes just like every espresso I drank in Italy over a 4 year period. Sure, it doesn't taste like Starbucks's swill. That's okay.

@brandbil22 Presso + Hand grinder (wood box or kyocera)

@brandbil22 (i wrote recommend twice, sometimes i have an extra chromosome)

@renix No I read "1000$". If you have a recommendation about a machine u recommend thats 150+90 id gladly hear about it. Try again? Cant right now i gotto comment on a Volvo 240-video and write that a GT mustang with the supersnake-kit is nicer.. ppl should know about this.

@brandbil22 Also, if you READ what I wrote about the Presso, which is $150 + $90 for a hand grinder that's actually cheaper than the Nespresso Citiz. Try again!

@brandbil22 The issue with espresso that people who buy Nespresso's don't understand is that you are not making espresso at this price range. To make espresso you need to spend money. Many people will tell you not to bother trying. These machines make some sort of dense gross coffee with foamy substance(?) on top. You can't review an ice cream maker that doesn't make ice cream, and then say "This ice cream maker makes killer ice cream!"
-
@renix We get it. You are an elitist. Ofc something of a higher price is usually better no matter what the subject is.
You have to judge products according to the other options in its price-range.
When you want to taste good espresso buy a Rancilio Silvia and a Rocky for about $1000. Yes, a $1000 is considered entry level in the home barista world. There is a stong online community for help via forums.
Another fallacy Nespresso markets is "19 bars" of the pump. Any real machines use 9 bars at the brew head and produce actual red mottled crema (as opposed to what you're drinking - pale foamy stuff). It's not that commercial machines can't produce more pressure, just no use to it!

@renix I'm not interested in spending $1000 for machine... I just want a good cup of coffee for a relatively affordable price. I don't find the coffee stale to speak to your message below.
