I choked on my diet coke.
" I am?"
Nick, Joe, Kevin and Frankie cheered. Nick grinned at me.
" This is awesome Gracie!"
I looked at mom.
" Can I talk to you for a sec? In the other room."
Mom looked confused but nodded her head. We went into the living room.
" What's wrong? I thought that's what you wanted?"
I sighed and sat down on the couch.
" It is...... but, I don't know, I'm starting to like it here, and Aly and I have..... well, she's kinda growing on me."
Mom grinned.
" I thought she might be."
I put my head in my hands.
" Grrrrrr. Why couldn't you have decided this BEFORE I started getting used to everything?"
Mom laughed.
" Things have changed."
I sighed.
" When do you..... I mean we leave again?"
" Friday."
" I'll be right back."
I ran to my room and flipped open my cell phone.
" Yo!"
" Aly....."
" Grace, what's wrong?"
I smiled a bit when I looked at the posters on my wall.
" I'm leaving."
" WHAT?"
My smile fell from my face.
" Mom and Dad decided that since I have diabetes, I should be with them."
" That's so unfair!"
" I know, I mean..... I....."
" You want to go don't you."
I rolled over onto my back.
" Yes..... but I don't want to leave you behind."
Aly faked a laugh.
" I guess I'll just have to tour with you during the summer."
I sat up.
" Aly, that's brilliant!"
I hung up and ran downstairs.
" Can Aly be with us during the summer?"
Dad looked at Mom and shrugged.
" I don't see a problem with that, as long as it's ok with her parents."
I ran and hugged my parents.
" Thank you!"
I ran back to my room and dialed Aly's number again.
" You hung up on me!"
" Sorry! Aly! You can!!!"
" I can what?"
" Tour with us during the summer!"
There was silence........ and then Aly screamed.
" Oh my god! Seriously? This is awesome! I'm going to go ask....."
Aly hung up on me and I laughed.
" This might be cool after all!"
