no it doesnt unlock the phone. Unlocking can be done, but its at a cost since microscopes need to be used and special equipment (which is costly) Thanks.

That was very helpful but i have one question if i decided to unbrand my three mobile would that mean i would lose the X-series functionality which is Orb Skype and Slingbox etc please reply very important

Yes you would probably lose it. But im sure skype and other applications could be reinstalled very easily

Yes it dose !! nOKIA SOFTWARE updater work on all newer version of nokias,simbyan or not.

I have updated my firmware with it, on 6280, thats when it got locked back to "3" network
